The President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, has indicated resolve to disappoint decampees from the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) into the All Progressives Congress (APC), vowing never to appoint anyone into his new cabinet.Buhari made this known in his home state, Katsina shortly after casting his vote along with his wife, Aisha.
He told a group of well-wishers who were advising him to be wary of the influx of PDP members from across the states into the PDP.
According to reports, Buhari said he would not want any of the decampees to derail his plans to set up a government to be peopled by credible and tested hands.
He said he was aware that those decamping into APC were mere opportunists who should never be trusted given the manner they hurriedly dumped the ruling party for which they had feigned loyalty for several years.
Indications that the President-elect is getting set to do a thorough job have also emerged with his decision to appoint knowledgeable and experienced technocrats to study handing-over notes by ministers and make recommendations.
By implication, the incoming government to be headed by Buhari will not accept the usual wishy-washy kinds of hand over notes, an indication that the new government may query ministers or heads or government agencies whose records are considered suspicious and questionable.
Buhari since he was declared the President-elect has been harping on his resolve to make the fight against corruption one of the major policy trusts of his administration, while he had severally criticized the outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan of presiding over a corrupt government.
