Buhari Urged To Fight Crime With Job Creation

The publisher of Orient Daily Newspapersand Magazine, Mr Godwin Ezeemo, has advised the incoming administration of General Muhammadu Buhari that the most effective tool to fight crimes across the country is to create job opportunities to engage the youths meaningfully. Such crimes include the insurgency in the north as well as armed robbery and kidnapping ravaging most parts of the southern region.
And in doing so, there should be a deliberate plan to make job opportunities provided in rural communities as attractive to the youths as those in the cities, so that the current level of migration from rural areas to the cities by the youths would reduce.
Mr Ezeemo gave the advice yesterday during a conference organised for youths in the South-east geo-political zone in Awka, the Anambra State capital, entitled “Nigeria South-east Youth: The Way Forward”, under the auspices of Nigeria Youth Volunteer Service ( NYVS).
He appealed to the president-elect not to jettison youth re-orientation and empowerment programmes of the out-going president Goodluck Jonathan but to improve on it so as to achieve a crime-free society.
Lamenting that Nigerian youths have been schemed out of the socio-economic and political aspects of the country for long, the Progressives Peoples Party (PPA) leader in Anambra State urged the incoming All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government not to discriminate against any part of the country for any reason in its governance of the country so as to move Nigeria forward.
