Enugu: Buhari Urged To Ensure Equity, Fair Play In Appointments

President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd) has been urged to zone the ministerial slot which he has reserved for the state to Enugu North Senatorial Zone (Nsukka), in order to prevent rancour and bad blood among the political elites of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Speaking during a press conference yesterday in Abuja, the Nsukka Vanguard of Hope, led by its chairman, Ejiofor Ayogu, urged the president-elect to “ignore overtures from Enugu East – a zone which has produced a governor (1999 to 2007), three ministers (Dubem Onyia, Ifeanyi Nweke Jr. and Prof Barth Nnaji), among others – to corner the allotted slot to their zone.”
He said, “Enugu West has produced one governor (2007 to 2015), two ministers (Fidelia Njeze and Prof Chinedu Nebo), while Enugu North, by contrast, has never produced a minister, though the next governor is coming from this zone.”
Ayogu pointed to the plot by the deputy national chairman of the APC in the South-east, Emma Eneukwu, to arrogate the Enugu State ministerial slot to himself or his zone (Enugu East) which has produced two ministers in addition to others in the state and pleaded with the president-elect “not to let such an injustice take root.”
