ANOTHER FUTILE ATTEMPT TO SMEAR PRESIDENT BUHARI -By Maiwada Danmallam

I don't usually delve on issues based on speculative submissions but, owing to the gravity of a libellous publication on an online media about a supposed scheme being operated by one Musa Yola, a step-brother to the wife of President Muhammad Buhari, Mrs. Aisha Buhari and another Musa Daura, a nephew of President Muhammad Buhari, I'm left with no option but to do so on the same speculative pedestal even if to highlight the poorly disguised mischief that was obviously scripted to embarrass President Buhari and members of his family.
First, it should be appreciated that President Buhari, even to his enemies could easily pass for an excellent judge of character as such, only inefficient cognitive ability could make somebody assume any person close to him could achieve that proximity on any consideration rather than strength of character. On that premise, it's highly unlikely that his nephew who doubles as one of his closest associates could succumb to the attraction of such dirty pecks that exist in the corridors of power. More so, Musa Daura is a fine gentleman that's moulded in similar traditions as those that made President Buhari what he is today. Knowing how principled President Buhari is, it's quite perplexing that could assume people around him will be unmindful of the zero possibility of bending him to be nepotistic in his decisions. Should that be the case, I will blame the victims of the supposed scam for a very poor sense of risk assessment. Somebody willing to part with the kind of money being speculated on the issue to access a "rear door" to his ambition should be expected to have some level of "street smartness" as not to fall prey to power vendors this cheaply.
In any case, why was it the "Musa Daura/Musa Yola" card never played out in the days of PTF? Very few people knew President Buhari have a nephew going by that name who enjoys his confidence. Musa Daura is just the kind of nephew one will expect from the Buhari bloodline. I once bumped into the fine gentleman in Dubai about 2 years ago and we had a lengthy discussion about Nigeria and the usual issue of corruption. Actually what provided us the corruption topic was a visit he paid an elder acquaintance in Grand Hyatt Hotel. Apparently he met the fellow enjoying what he assessed to be an obscenely opulent holiday. His worries were as much to the insensitive exhibition of obliviousness to the squalor that had became a second skin to most Nigerians as to the source of the cash backing for such opulence. Certainly the mindset of the gentleman were far out of sync with the "staying in a Transcorp Hilton suite, collecting millions" picture painted by the online magazine.
Though close to President Buhari, Musa Daura is one person that know his limitations to the President when it comes to "home advantage". Not so many people will know that he contested for the ticket of House of Representatives but wasn't able to make the primaries because he neither ask for nor was he offered the advantage of the "Buhari factor". He went into the race on the strength of his conviction and lost on the weakness of his political structure. If Daura could ever succumb to the temptation of taking advantage of the "Buhari" name, no time could be better.
Perhaps, having exhausted all means to smear President Buhari's good name, these "e-rats" are now resorting to poorly scripted lies to bring down President Buhari. The folly of this silly attempt rested with the fact that it's as intellectually damaging to the sponsors as it's damaging to the victims. To a normal thinking Nigeria, one will like to know why somebody with such a "damning evidence" will not take President Buhari up on his promise to deal with anybody, including his relatives who engage in any act of corruption. Personally, I believe there's more easy money to pick with this "evidence" (if it exist) than what the two "Musas" could ever hope to make as power vendors. The fact that the 2 were sighted at Transcorp Hilton (if at all they were) doesn't prove a thing as both were not paupers before President Buhari ascend the Presidency.
It's now left to the online publishers to prove their story with verifiable evidence(s) of any misdeed by the 2. Nigerians will wait to hear the names of the idiots that will sink hundreds of millions trying to secure lucrative office in just not any regime but the regime of President Buhari. No! This is just another attempt to smear a hard earned name and it won't work. It's just not enough to deploy "FACTION" (a mixture of facts and fiction) to destroy a name built through hard work and impeccable character.
