Shema Administration left a huge debt in the state-Governor Masari

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has declared that over N1.7billion is trapped in the accounts of local governments in the state recently frozen by his administration.
The move was sequel to mass withdrawal of money from the accounts before and shortly after the current administration assumed office. The governor confirmed this at a civic reception in honour of the elected members of the  All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina South Senatorial zone held at Funtua township stadium.
Masari also debunked claims by the former governor of the state, Ibrahim Shehu Shema, that he never borrowed funds to run the affairs of the state, saying former administration left a huge debt in the state.
According to the governor, the electorate would be in shock when the amount of the debt inherited by the current administration would be revealed after studying the report submitted by the Shema administration. He also disclosed that the special Hajj seat allocation made by the previous administration had been cancelled.
The governor assured that the present APC-led administration would work to improve the living standard of the people of the state.
He, however, called for perseverance to enable his administration execute people-oriented policies and programmes designed to achieve its set goals.
In his speech, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Aliyu Sabiu Muduru, assured that the executive and legislative arms in the state would work as a team in serving the people.
The speaker also urged the people to exercise patient as the APC government would not disappoint the electorate.
In his remarks, the state chairman of APC, Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, stressed the need for people to be law abiding and prayerful for the real change to strive in the state and the country.
Earlier, the senator representing the zone, Senator Abu Ibrahim, promised adequate representation of the zone and the state by the APC law makers at the state and national assembly.
He also lauded the open door policy of Masari while extolling the governor’s love and commitment to the well being of the people.
