The 19 northern states’ speakers under the auspices of Northern States Speakers Forum have restated the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari to rebuilding North-eastern states ravaged by insurgency.
This was contained in a communique read at the end of their sitting which lasted till 2am yesterday at the office of the speaker, Kano State House of Assembly.
Reading the communique, the speaker, Zamfara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sunusi Garba Rikiji, said that the speakers commend the president’s promise to rebuild the North-east.
The speakers sympathised with the victims of the recent bomb blast in Plateau, Borno, Yobe and Gombe states, adding that they observed with keen interest the resolve of the federal government to end insurgency.
The communique also upheld the president’s stance to fight corruption in all the sectors of the economy and at various levels of governance.
It also appealed to various state governments to emulate the commitment of the federal government to fighting corruption.
They further resolved to maintain good relationship between the Executive and the Legislature in ensuring rapid development of their states.
