Buhari’s US visit successful – Nyako

Senator Abdul-Aziz Nyako (APC) representing Adamawa Central has said President Muhammadu Buhari’s four-day official visit to the United States was successful and will yield positive benefits to Nigeria in the shortest possible time. Nyako said in a statement issued yesterday in Abuja that the president did not leave anybody in doubt that he was there to discuss issues affecting the country. He said Buhari’s ability to negotiate $2.1 billion facility for rebuilding and rehabilitating the internally displaced people from the North-eastern region was a welcome development. The senator also commended the president’s effort at tackling insurgency, the economy and corruption. “For the president to go to the USA and get commitment from the Western world on the fight against insurgency, restoring the crimping economy and recovering stolen public funds is a great achievement and that alone has distinguished him from our past leaders,” the statement read in part. Nyako therefore urged Nigerians to be patient with President Buhari while he takes time to put Nigeria on the path of economic growth and shared prosperity. He also assured that the legislative arm of government would do all it takes to create the enabling environment for the President to execute his policies. Source:Daily Trust
