Consultation One Of The Keys Of Good Leadership – Sultan

The Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) Sa’ad Abubakar 111 said yesterday that, consultation is one of the keys of good leadership. The Sultan, who spoke in his palace added further that, the Nigeria Islamic sect (Boko Haram) does not in anyway represent Islam, hence, the religion forbids killing of innocent lives whereas, Boko Haram derives pleasure in that. Speaking when the League of Imams and Alfas from South West, Edo and Delta visited him in his palace, Sultan urged them to preach peaceful coexistence, how to live aright and let people know that Islam does not encourage converting people by force neither does it support insurgency. “If Muslims in Nigeria are united, and do things right, work towards development and peaceful coexistence, then Nigeria will be better for it. “We will continue to reach out to you before we take decision on anything. Hence, consultation is one of the keys of good leadership. We are united now than we have ever been before in this country. “Usman Danfodiyo never converted people to Islam by force, he only reformed Islam and that has been the role those behind him have been doing and will continue to do. “But imagine the insurgents are holding people to ramson in the North-East. Boko Haram don’t represent Islam, they don’t practice Islam; hence, it forbids taking of lives,” Sultan reiterated. Earlier, the secretary general, League of Imams and Alfas, South-West, Edo and Delta States, divulged that, they were in the palace to present their newly elected president general, Sheikh Alhaji, Jamilu Bello Kewulere to the Sultan. While appreciating Sultan’s immence contribution to peaceful coexistence and expansion of Islam in Nigeria, they also condemned the menace of Boko Haram, saying their atrocities are ungodly, unIslamic and primitive. They further called on Nigerians to provide useful information to the security agencies on how best to curb the menace of Boko Haram. “We wish to stress that security is not the exclusive duty of the government alone but required the cooperation and vigilance of all Nigerians. We therefore, call on Nigerians to appreciate the essence of security awareness, to be vigilant amd provide necessary information to tackle the Boko Haram menace.” Source:Leadership
