No Borno LGA Is Under Boko Haram Control – Army

The 7th Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri yesterday denied rumours making the rounds that some local government areas, recently said to have been liberated from the Boko Haram are still under the control of the insurgents. This rebuttal was made by the spokesman of the 7 Division, Colonel Tukur Gusau, when he paraded some items and arms recovered from the Boko Haram terrorists by soldiers that recaptured Dikwa town, the headquarters of Dikwa local government. “Our men are currently in Dikwa and are in full control of the town. On our way to recapturing Dikwa we met some resistance, where we returned fire killing 20 members of the insurgents”. Colonel Gusau said items recovered from the insurgents in the Dikwa operations include multi-purpose gun machine, 6 AK 47 riffles, a sniper’s rifle accessories, with Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) among other ammunitions. While speaking on the earlier claims that the Nigerian army have liberated Dikwa town before the election, he said “this is the first time that Nigerians are on ground in Dikwa since the capturing of Dikwa by the insurgents.” According to him, “In the process of recapturing Dikwa our troops destroyed five vehicles laden with IEDs alongside some motorcycles.” Source:Leadership
