The Katsina State Government has warned officials of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board against engaging in sharp practices during the 2015 exercise.
Gov. Aminu Masari gave the warning at the farewell ceremony for the state’s intending pilgrims on Tuesday in Katsina.
He said that any of the officials, who displayed sign of indiscipline or indolence in the Holy land would be sanctioned.
Masari also called on the intending pilgrims to report any hajj official that refused to discharge his duties to the appropriate quarters.
‘’I call on the intending pilgrims who face some difficulties in Saudi Arabia not to engage in riot or demonstration.
‘’The state government has put all the necessary things in place for a smooth hajj operations for the state’s contingent,’’ he said.
Masari urged the intending pilgrims to be good ambassadors of the state by showing high level of discipline.
Earlier, the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Farouq Umar, urged the pilgrims to obey all the laid down rules and regulations in Saudi Arabia.
Umar appealed to the pilgrims not to engage in vices while at the holy land.
Also speaking, the Executive Director of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Ahmad Hassan, said that the first batch of 530 pilgrims would depart from Katsina on Tuesday.
Hassan appealed to the intending pilgrims to be patient with the officials of the board as they were doing everything possible to make the hajj exercise hitch-free.
NAN reports that 4,467 pilgrims were expected to perform this year’s hajj from the state.(NAN)
