KATSINA TO CONDUCT SURVEY OF NEW BORN BABIES –Governor Masari

Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari, has assured that the state would conduct survey of new born babies in Sabuwa Unguwa area of Katsina Municipal where Dana Steel Company is located.
Our correspondent reports that Dana Steel Company is being accused of allegedly disposing its waste product indiscriminately in the Sabuwar Unguwa Area of the Municipal.
Speaking when he recieved officials of Katsina State Office of National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) Masari said the census would help ascertain the health status of the babies owing to the emission and other wastes disposed by Dana Steel Company.
Governor Masari however urged the agency to work against indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the state assuring that henceforth, he would personally participate in the monthly sanitation exercise in the state.
Earlier in his speech, the Katsina State coordinator of NESREA, Jonathan Sylvanus Dajjal said there is high ignorance of environmental laws, standards and regulations in the state.
Dajjal said there was the need to step up awareness campaigns on safe environmental practices in the state and noted that lack of operational vehicles had impeded the agency’s capacity to extend its enforcement activities beyond the state capital
