Maitama Sule: Buhari's govt dawn of a new era

Elder statesman and former Nigeria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Alhaji Maitama Sule, has described the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as "the dawn of a new era".

He was speaking to State House journalists on Tuesday after meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

He said President Buhari had established for himself, the reputation of a good leader capable of instilling discipline and fighting corruption.

According to the elder statesman, already, "the international community is giving Nigeria good respect’’.

He said: "It is when you have good leaders that we will be able to bring to an end the insecurity we have in the country and the bad image we have abroad. Leaders with integrity are the ones that can bring about change and we have in these two men of integrity and I am confident that things should be what they should be.

"And I think the president has established that reputation as a military leader, a reputation of instilling discipline into the society, raising the current tone of the society and fighting corruption", he said.

He called on Nigerians to support Buhari's administration and be constructive in their criticisms.
