Group Lauds FG For Appointing Radda SMEDAN’s DG

The Buhari/ Osinbajo’s Initiative for Demonstrating Change in Nigeria (BOIDCN) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda as the new Chief Executive/Managing Director, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
The group gave the commendation through the  National Coordinator, Comrade Chinedu Ogah  while speaking to newsmen in Abuja recently.
Ogah, who noted with satisfaction the genuineness of the present administration to promote entrepreneurial culture in all segments of Nigeria society; however called on the new leadership of SMEDAN to continue in the entrenchment of entrepreneurial culture, Industrializing of rural areas, enhancing industrial cluster development ideas to further increase MSMEs contributions to GDP and amplify the nation’s export potentials to the rest of the world.
Ogah stated “that  exploring the potentials and quality of Dr. Radda at this critical time of our history is indeed a laudable effort of the government to continually reposition SMEDAN as a critical stakeholder/agency in the diversification policy of the Buhari’s administration.”
He therefore enjoined Dr. Radda to sustain the good skills empowering innovations programmes initiated by his immediate boss.
The group was particular about the National Enterprise Development Programme (NEDEP) which is aimed at generating an estimated 5 million direct and indirect jobs with the target focus on Skills Acquisition, Entrepreneurship Training/Business Development Service (BDS) and Access to Finance.
The NEDEP, which is currently being coordinated by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) is guided by empirical research resulting from the field experiences of successful similar enterprise development initiatives in Africa and Asia and the OLOP pilot projects is currently being carried out in Kano and Niger States while the entrepreneurship training/business development service component is being implemented under the One Local Government One Product (OLOP) platform and the access to finance component is being handled by the Bank of Industry (BOI) with the skills acquisition aspect being handle by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF).
