SMEDAN DG flags off post training business devt services

The Director-General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Dr Dikko Umaru Radda, has flagged off the post training business development service for the zonal intervention programme as part of the agency’s  effort to further boost the contributions of micro, small and medium enterprises to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the economy at large.
Dr Radda reiterated the agency’s commitment, through this programme, to support 5,000 businesses nationwide. “We believe that at the end of the day we would be able to generate about 50, 000 indirect jobs,’’ he added. He said the programme would hold in 103 locations across the country.

The director-general said the programme is aimed at achieving critical on-the-spot assessment and application of problem solving techniques, among others, to enable the beneficiaries run their businesses better.
He added that the programme would provide the opportunity to understand the peculiar challenges being faced by each of the enterprises the agency had interfaced with, as well as provide business development and other ancillary services that would enhance the management of the enterprises and strengthen the link between the agency and target participants.
“And we expect that the businesses will also trigger a value chain of support enterprises, which will also indirectly add to the employment generation drive of the programme,’’ he said.
They will also be on the agency’s priority list for funding and access to business finance. Radda also directed all SMEDAN state offices to put all machineries in motion to ensure that every part of the country is reached.
