1. PDP Denied South West the ample opportunity of presenting a candidate of their choice in 1999 after they had conspired to kill Chief MKO ABIOLA who won the 1993 Presidential Elections fair and square. Instead the useless Party foisted former President Obasanjo who ended up wasting and decimating 8 years of Yoruba chance to fix Nigeria
2. Obasanjo did not use the 8 yrs to rebuild Nigeria and to heal the deep wounds IBB and Abacha visited in the South West and Nigeria as a whole.
3. Obasanjo would not allow Lagos to build its own power plants Asiwaju BAT tried to build immediately he came to power in 1999.
4. Obasanjo would not allow Lagos State to keep the additional 37 Local Governments it created. He seized the LGAs Allocations for years until the late President Yar’Adua came in 2007 to release it.
5. Obasanjo used his Minister Adeseye Ogunlewe, a Lagosian for that matter,who was then a Minister Of Works and Housing to stop a Chinese Company from building the 4th Mainland Bridge.
6. Obasanjo used his exalted office to steal Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Osun and Ogun Sates from AD in 2003 and only Lagos survived the onslaught. Pa Abraham Adesanya could not recover from the shock. He died in pains OBJ inflicted on him.
7. Obasanjo’s Attorney General Chief Bola Ige was murdered in his home in Ibadan and the killers could not be found till date. This shocked his wife Justice Atunike Ige to the marrows and she could not live to manage the debilitating shock and disbelief.
8. Obasanjo could not build one single major road in the SW, even the one leading to his house in Ota Ogun State. He could not build the Lagos - Ibadan Expressway in his 8 years in office.
9. Throughout the 8 years OBJ was in office he did not even deem it fit to remember and recognize the man on whose back he rode to power, not even to mention his name at public functions. He pretended as if June 12 1993 has no relevance and never existed.It took a Northerner President Muhammadu BUHARI from Daura in Katsina State to recognize Chief MKO ABIOLA and gave him the highest HONOUR in the land.
10. For 8 years OBJ declared war on SW and other parts of Nigeria and the multiplier effects still here with us till date .
11. Despite these calculated attempts by OBJ and his PDP to slow down the pace of Lagos and punish its leaders, the state has risen to become the 5th Largest Economy in Africa.
Conclusion:
You may never know the amount of energy, strength, both human and material resources the leaders of South West put in place in order to chase away PDP from the zone. It was a 15 years struggle and it will take a 300 page book to unravel. So those of us who are wasting their precious gift of time on PDP’s tall dream of ruling Lagos should perish the thought. It will never never be for a long time. Lagos is too important, too strategic to SW and Nigeria to left in the hands of nitwits, looters and mediocres. Case Rested!
