President Muhammadu Buhari has transmitted a bill for the amendment of the country’s minimum wage law to the National Assembly.

The transmission was in line with the pledge of the federal government to the organised labour to do so on January 23, 2019
.
The bill which captured the N27,000 approved on Tuesday by the National Council of State (NCS) as the country’s new minimum wage would be read at both chambers of the National Assembly tomorrow.

Presidential Adviser on National Assembly (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, confirmed the transmission of the bill in a phone interview on Wednesday night.

The transmission comes despite the reservations expressed by the organised labour over the cut of N3,000 in the N30,000 recommended by the tripartite committee, chaired by a former Head of Service of the federation, Ama Pepple.

While the Council of State approved N27,000, the federal government had resolved to pay N30,000 to its workers
