Vice presidential candidate dumps party, backs Buhari ahead of February 23 election

- The vice presidential candidate of Grassroots Democratic Party of Nigeria, Alhaji Ibrahim Modibbo, dumped the party's presidential candidate and GDPN for Buhari

- According to him, Buhari's stewardship since coming to power in 2015 is the reason he is supporting the president

As Nigerians prepare for the 2019 general elections, the vice presidential candidate of Grassroots Democratic Party of Nigeria (GDPN), Alhaji Ibrahim Modibbo, has dumped the party's presidential candidate and GDPN for President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Leadership reports that Modibbo declared his support for Buhari and the ruling party in Abuja on Tuesday,

Legit.ng gathers that the vice presidential candidate said his reason for supporting Buhari was because of the president's performance since taking over mantle of leadership in 2015.

According to him, re-electing Buhari will re-launch the country into another phase of development.

He said: “Buhari’s performance within three years in office shows that re-electing him will bring more positive impacts on Nigerians, especially in area of agricultural development and improved economy.

“I have decided to joined him because of what he is doing, and there is need to support him do more."

Modibbo was commended by the coordinator of Youths and Women Presidential Campaign Team, Bubba Marwa, who received him and his supporters.

Marwa assured of better days ahead for Nigerians who believe in President Buhari's leadership.
