NASS Leadership: President-Elect, Bola Tinubu, APC Target Consensus Senate President, Speaker

President-elect, Bola Tinubu, Abdullahi Adamu, and some NWC members held a preliminary meeting at the Defence House on the zoning of the National Assembly principal offices with consensus option likely According to the "Nation" the meeting lasted for 2 hours but no decision was made with party leaders opting to make more consultations.

After the crucial meeting, three contenders for Senate President – Senator Akpabio, Senator Kalu and Senator Osita Izunaso; and Muktar Aliyu Betara , who is eyeing the House Speaker, held  separate meetings with the President-elect, Bola Tinubu.

Sources close to the APC leaders said consensus is being proposed to ensure that the contest does not lead to crisis.

According to the Source, majority of party leaders were disposed to the choice of a Christain Senate President from the South South but there's also a strong case for the South East which produced six APC senators but didn't turn up substantial amount of votes like the South South.

The source added that party leaders favoured the zoning of the House Speaker to the North West which gave the ruling party the highest number of votes during the elections while Deputy Senate President goes to the North Central and the Deputy House Speaker to the South East.
