Buhari gets National Legacy award

President Muhammadu Buhari will be conferred with National Legacy Award by Host Communities of Nigeria (HOSCON), a body of oil and gas producing states.

Executive National Chairman, Prince Mike Emuh, said Buhari was being recognised and appreciated for his commitment to oil and gas states by making Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) a reality

He said: “We decided to honour President Muhammadu Buhari with our highest award, National Legacy Award, and he’s first to be honoured. He deserves it on merit of his service to us.

“Beyond PIA worth over N400 billion, he paid 13 per cent derivation fund, gave us the first oil and gas research centre in Africa in Oloibiri, Ogoni clean-up and others, instituted the gas flare penalty, and his administration’s tenacity towards oil discovery in North has added to our national stock and economic viability.”

Emuh noted the reforms carried in oil and gas during Buhari’s tenure were strategic that they continue to maximise the gains in the industry and extending such on the national economy.

The body also recognised Buhari’s true legacy in the restoration of national security and as a veritable icon of democracy.
