Fintiri swears in first commissioner, SSG, CoS, HoS 

• Tasks them on good governance

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, yesterday, swore in his first and only commissioner, as his second term kicks off. Afraimu Jingi was sworn-in as Commissioner for Justice, a position he held for four years in Fintiri’s first term.

Other appointees that took oath of office were Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Awwal Tukur, Chief of Staff (CoS) to the governor, Dr. Amos Edgar, and Head of Service (HoS), Mallam Shehu Ardo.

While speaking after administering the oath, the governor said he has complete faith in the abilities of those he appointed to effectively coordinate activities of various ministries, departments, and agencies, ensuring that his administration’s policies and programmes are executed efficiently for the benefit of Adamawa people.

Fintiri, who described Jingi as an accomplished legal practitioner, said he has unwavering commitment to justice and the rule of law. He said: “I have full confidence that his deep understanding of the legal landscape, coupled with his impeccable integrity, would enable him provide sound legal advice and ensure effective administration of justice in our state.

“As you assume your new role, I implore you to embrace teamwork and collaboration. Together, with other members of the cabinet, I expect you to foster a harmonious and inclusive working environment where ideas are freely shared, and decisions are made in the best interest of our people.

“I encourage you to seek innovative approaches to governance, tapping into the vast potential of our state, ensuring that every citizen has a voice and a stake in our collective progress.”

The governor further urged the new appointees to prioritise the welfare of Adamawa citizens, especially vulnerable and marginalised groups. He advised the SSG and other appointees that their actions should be guided by compassion and a genuine desire to improve the lives of Adamawa people. 

He added that they should work diligently to deliver on his administration’s promises to fulfill the aspirations of Adamawa residents.
