Wike begins completion of abandoned FCT projects

Some of these projects include road infrastructure on resurfacing GARKI 1 , Wuse 1 , some parts of Maitama and the Abuja light rail project.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has invited contractors handling various abandoned and ongoing projects in FCT for an extraordinary meeting.

The aim, he said, is to move contractors “back to site”.

Addressing the contractors in Abuja, Mr Wike assured them that the FCT Administration would pay all debts causing the projects to delay, in order to ensure that such projects are concluded with effective supervision.

Mr Wike, who identified poor Supervision as one of the reasons responsible for many an abandoned project in the FCT, disclosed that attention has been given to environmental sanitation and fixing of malfunctioning street lights to enhance their work.

He also announced that the procurement processes will be flagged off within the next two weeks to mobilize contractors to return to site.

According to him, “it’s time to hit the ground running” in the completion of critical projects, especially on the Metroline, calling it the “major focus of Mr President”.

He warned that the administration would not tolerate any compromise for substandard work, and urged contractors to deliver their projects within the stipulated time-frame.

” I hate delayed projects; because when you are on site, there will be job creation for the people,” the Minister stated.
