Wike’s Security Efforts Reducing Crime In Abaji, Says Council Chair

ABUJA – The Chairman of Abaji Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi, has attributed the reduction in kidnappings and criminal activities in the area to security interventions by FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Abdullahi made this statement during a security town hall organized by the Minister’s office in collaboration with Abaji Area Council. The meeting aimed to address insecurity in the FCT through interaction with residents.

The council chairman praised the proactiveness of the current administration and highlighted the positive impact of Wike’s security interventions.

He acknowledged the challenges posed by the location of Abaji, sharing boundaries with Niger, Kogi, and Nasarawa states. Abdullahi commended security agencies, traditional institutions, religious bodies, youth, and voluntary organizations for their contributions to achieving considerable peace in the area.

Abdullahi also expressed appreciation for the FCT Minister’s efforts in rural development, including the initiation of a five-kilometer road in each of the six area councils.

He requested a military checkpoint in Yaba town, an upgrade of Gawun Police Station to a full Divisional Police Station, additional vehicles and logistics for security agencies, and the completion of abandoned roads and projects.

The Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Yunusa, commended Wike for his service to FCT residents, particularly in improving security and other development projects.

He appealed for the establishment of an army barracks in Abaji and urged the completion and launch of the proposed University of Science and Technology, Abaji.

Responding to the requests, Wike granted most of them but mentioned that the proposed University of Science and Technology was under consideration.

He emphasized the importance of community support for the government to address insecurity and maintain the relative peace in the FCT.

Wike called for residents’ collaboration with security agencies by providing valuable information to prevent criminal activities.
